What is DJ.Studio Next?
DJ.Studio Next is the prerelease version of DJ.Studio. It gives you early access to features that are still being tested before they go into the official release.
It is called Next because:
DJ.Studio Next previews the next version that will eventually be launched publicly
DJ.Studio Next runs alongside the official version
DJ.Studio Next is always one version ahead of the official release. As soon as a version becomes official, Next moves on to previewing the version after that. Features on Next roll out gradually as each one passes our quality and performance testing.
You can download DJ.Studio Next at dj.studio/next. You need an active update package to try out the new features.
Running Next alongside the official version
DJ.Studio Next and the official DJ.Studio are separate apps. Don't run them at the same time, they're not designed for it. This won't corrupt your database, but the two apps aren't aware of each other while running.
Since they're separate apps, any settings or preferences you've set up in DJ.Studio will need to be set again in DJ.Studio Next.
If something in Next isn't working right, close it and switch back to the stable version to keep working.
You'll recognize DJ.Studio Next by its yellow app icon. The official release uses the classic black icon.
Database sharing
By default, DJ.Studio Next uses the same database as your regular DJ.Studio install. All your mixes, mashups, and projects will be there right away.
If you'd rather keep things separate, you can point Next to a different database folder in Settings > Folders > Database Location. See Backup, Restore and Transfer Projects for how to copy a database or move individual projects between locations.
Found a bug?
That's expected, and it's exactly why Next exists.
If something isn't working right, let us know using the speech bubble in the bottom right of the app, or email support@dj.studio. Mention "DJ.Studio Next" in your message so it's routed to a human directly.
How updates work
DJ.Studio Next updates more frequently than the stable version. That means you get improvements faster, but it also means less polish in some areas. Expect the occasional rough edge or unfinished feature.
Support for Next is more limited than for the official release. We won't fix every issue right away, but your reports directly help us improve the stable version.
