Learn how to backup, restore, and transfer your .DJS Projects

DJ.Studio features a backup and restore feature.

This lets you save your projects as .DJS files, which can then be stored on other devices, or imported to DJ.Studio on another machine.

Backup Mix

To backup your mix (Save it as a .DJS project file)

  1. Open your mix

  2. Click Export

  3. Click Backup

  4. Save the .DJS file to your hard drive.


Import Mix / Restore

To import a mix (restore .DJS)

  1. Go to the DJ.Studio homepage

  2. Click Import Project at the bottom-right of the screen

  3. Navigate to a .DJS file you created with the backup feature

  4. Wait for the import to complete, you will see the project in your browser.


Transferring Mixes

If you want to transfer mixes from one machine to another, follow these steps:

  1. Create a backup .DJS file of your mix as outlined above.

  2. Transfer the .DJS using cloud services like dropbox/google drive, or copy it using a USB stick or external hard drive.

  3. Download/Paste the .DJS file to a new machine.

  4. Use the Import Mix process outlined above to import the project to your other instance of DJ.Studio!


FAQs About Backup and Restore


How do I back up and restore a DJ.Studio project?

  1. Open the DJ.Studio home screen and click on your mix.


  2. Select the backup button from the window.


  3. In the next window, make sure you check the option to include audio files. Then click backup.


  4. Your project will then be downloaded as a .DJS file.

  5. To import your mix to another machine or location, click Import Mix from the bottom left of the home screen.


  6. Navigate to the destination of the downloaded .DJS file, and select it.

  7. DJ.Studio will now import your mix, which you can then open from the home screen.


How do I move a DJ.Studio project to a different machine?

How do I move a project from the app to the browser, or reverse?

How to transfer all my mixes to a new computer?

If you want to move over all of your mixes, you can also copy the complete database by copying the Users/user/music/DJ.Studio folder to your new machine.

It's best to clear the Cache folder in the DJ.Studio folder first and also check if you want to copy the complete content of your export folders to the new machine.
