Check whether DJ.Studio has access to Media & Apple Music and to your Files and Folders
If your Apple Music library isn't showing up in DJ.Studio, playlists appear empty, or tracks won't load from your folders, macOS is usually blocking the app's access. Follow the steps below to check and restore the permissions. This takes about five minutes.
1. Check Media & Apple Music access
This is the permission DJ.Studio needs to read your Apple Music library and playlists.
Open the Apple menu and go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music.
Find DJ.Studio in the list and make sure the switch next to it is turned on.
On macOS 12 (Monterey) or earlier: open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Media & Apple Music, click the lock to make changes, and tick the checkbox next to DJ.Studio.
2. Check Files and Folders access
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders.
Click DJ.Studio to expand it and turn on every folder shown, in particular:
Music Folder: where your Apple Music media files live
Documents, Desktop and Downloads: if your tracks or projects are stored there
Removable Volumes: if your music is on an external drive or USB stick
Is your music spread across many locations? On the same Privacy & Security screen, open Full Disk Access and turn on DJ.Studio. This covers every folder at once.
3. Restart DJ.Studio
Quit DJ.Studio completely with Cmd+Q (not just closing the window), then open it again. Permission changes only take effect after a full restart.
4. DJ.Studio is not in the list
If DJ.Studio doesn't appear under Media & Apple Music or Files and Folders, macOS has never shown the permission prompt, or the choice was reset. To trigger it:
Open DJ.Studio and start an Apple Music sync, or open the folder or library you're trying to use.
When macOS shows a permission dialog, click Allow (or OK).
5. Still not working? Reset the permissions
Sometimes a stored "deny" gets stuck. You can safely clear DJ.Studio's permission choices so macOS asks again.
Open Terminal (press Cmd+Space, type "Terminal", press Return).
To reset only the Apple Music permission, paste:
tccutil reset MediaLibrary dj.studio.appTo reset all permission choices for DJ.Studio at once, paste:
tccutil reset All dj.studio.appReopen DJ.Studio and click Allow on each prompt that appears.
