DJ.Studio has two kinds of updates, and you decide whether the larger ones download automatically. This article shows how updates work, how to check for an update yourself, and what to do if the app won't start after an update.

How do updates work?
The DJ.Studio app has two parts: the interface, which is everything you see and use, and the app itself, which handles everything under the hood. They are updated in different ways:
Update | How it is installed |
Interface updates (also called web or frontend updates) | Always downloaded automatically. Applied when you reload or restart the app. When one is ready, a grey Restart to Update button appears. |
App updates | Larger. You choose whether they download automatically or manually (see below). |
How do I download app updates automatically?
Go to Settings > General.
Turn on Auto Download Updates.
New app updates are then downloaded as soon as they are available, and applied the next time you restart the app. An available app update is also shown in the top right corner of the navigation bar.
How do I check for updates myself?
Choose DJ.Studio > Check for Updates in the top menu bar.
If a new version is available, you are asked to download it or wait until later.
How do I see which version I have?
Choose DJ.Studio > About DJ.Studio. You can read about the latest version at news.dj.studio.
If DJ.Studio asks you to subscribe even though you paid, an old version can be the reason. See DJ.Studio asks me to subscribe or shows the trial screen after I paid.
After an update, the app is gone or won't start
DJ.Studio installs an update by removing the old version and installing the new one. Sometimes the setup stops because of an error while removing the old version, and the new one is never installed. Then you may see either of these:
The app has disappeared from your computer.
Nothing happens when you click the DJ.Studio icon.
To fix it: go to the download page, sign in with your DJ.Studio account, and download and install DJ.Studio again. Don't worry about your work: your mixes and mashup projects are still available.
If it still doesn't start, start a chat and type DJS.
