The Backup and Import mix option in DJ.Studio lets you save your projects as .DJS files, which can then be stored on other devices, or imported in DJ.Studio on another machine.

Frequently Asked Questions About Backup and Restore

How do I move a project from the browser version to the DJ.Studio app or vice versa?

  1. Open your mix in the browser version of the app

  2. Click Export

  3. Click Backup

  4. Save the .DJS file to your hard drive.

  5. Transfer the .DJS using cloud services like dropbox/google drive, or copy it using a USB stick or external hard drive.

  6. Go to the DJ.Studio homescreen in the desktop app.

  7. Click Import Mix at the bottom-left of the screen

  8. Select the .DJS file you created with the backup feature

  9. Wait for the import to complete, you will see the project in your app.

If you transfer mixes from the desktop app to the browser version, you need to take into account that the browser version doesn't support stem separation, effects from the FX pack or VST support. Your project will be messed up because the web version cannot apply those settings.

How to transfer all my mixes to a new computer?

If you want to move over all of your mixes, you can also copy the complete database by copying the Users/user/music/DJ.Studio folder to your new machine.

It's best to clear the Cache folder in the DJ.Studio folder first and also check if you want to copy the complete content of your export folders to the new machine.
