Welcome to DJ.Studio 5.0

You no longer pick a beatgrid type yourself, the Smart Beatgrid adapts to the track. Beat detection and first-beat detection have both been significantly improved.

The Smart beatgrid will find the first beat with much more accuracy and follow the beats through the whole track when you have tracks with drifting grids.

DJ.Studio now supports more than 3 sample lanes; you can add up to 10 lanes, making it easier for you to organize your mashup or mix projects.

Just drag samples to the bottom part of the Studio to add more sample lanes or click the + button at the front.

Right mouse click on a lane to resize, color, pin and move the lanes to your liking.

To make room for all these lanes, we now have a scrollable studio where lanes keep their full height instead of being squeezed onto one screen.

Use your scroll wheel to scroll up and down and hold ⌘/Ctrl while scrolling to zoom the timeline or vice versa.

You can also use the dropdown in the top right corner to change the way all the lanes are shown in one click.

DJ.Studio now has its own phrase detection algorithm. When you add tracks, they get analysed in phrases like intros, verses, choruses, buildups and drops. This helps you understand the structure of the music, find better mix in/out locations, and lays the groundwork for smarter harmonizing based on song structure. See more about that in the Harmonize section.

When you drag tracks within transitions, it will snap to the phrases.

You can also right-click a phrase to edit, split, delete or change its type.

With DJ.Studio 5.0, phrases are automatically enabled.

Mixed in Key energy segments analysis now disabled by default. You can enable them again at Settings > Libraries > Mixed in Key > Settings. Or disable the DJ.Studio phrases Settings → Interface → Phrases if you want to use the rekordbox phrases.

First of all, we want you to know that tracks can now also be ordered on descending tempo, perfect for late-night sets where the energy needs to go down.

But the biggest change is about the mix-in and mix-out locations.

Until now, DJ.Studio chose the mix in/out point based on the number of bars from the start/end.

As DJ.Studio 5.0 now has its own phrase detection, this opens up completely different ways to find the best mix-in/out points.

That’s why DJ.Studio 5.0’s Harmonize now has the following ways to decide where each transition starts and ends:

The Harmonize wizard is redesigned based on these new features.

Pick your type on the new "Mix on" step, and fine-tune the in-mix point and out-mix point.

We've also added a "Save these settings for next time" option, so your transition preferences carry over to your next Harmonize run or when you add new tracks.

Also note the setting in the Studio at the “eye” icon, where you can enable “snap to transition to phrases” when you drag tracks within a transition.

Lots of changes in the library for easier browsing, searching, filtering and managing, with more track info.

DJ.Studio now also helps you to manage your playlists in your favorite music libraries from within DJ.Studio. You can create/edit/delete playlists and add/remove tracks from playlists in rekordbox, Serato, Traktor, Engine DJ, Virtual DJ and Mixed in Key.

Watch folders: point DJ.Studio at a folder on your machine, and new tracks are added immediately to your DJ.Studio library, metadata is imported and the track is already used when suggesting tracks in the Solver.

With DJ.Studio 5.0 we have redesigned the app interface across Home, Library, Add Tracks, Studio, Harmonize, Playlist, Samples, Extensions, Settings, Export and most dialogs.

We added a new dark and light mode, where light mode isn't fully polished yet.

You can also change the interface scale at Settings > Interface. So if you like to have the texts bigger, set the interface scale to Large.

As an example of a redesigned screen, we show you the new Settings screen, where we also added a search in the top left corner, so you can find an option without going through all the screens.

You can now place markers on the studio timeline to mark spots you want to come back to.

Enable them at Settings > Interface > Enable Markers.

Double-click in the timeline to add a marker or press F8, add your note and color code them.

See all the markers in your project and click to quickly jump to that spot in your mix.

One search bar for all of DJ.Studio. You'll find it at the top of Home.

Find projects, tracks and artists across your library in one place. Type the name of a setting to jump straight to it, without digging through the Settings screen. Press Enter to run a full search through your projects.

The Home screen has redesigned project details and a different left-hand navigation.

When you click on a project, it opens immediately; the right mouse click shows you an extended drop-down menu.

When you zoom into the beat grid, you will now see RGB waveforms, making it easier to read the audio.
